Super Falcons-eligible midfielder Ashanti Akpan will not feature in Chelsea's UEFA Women's Champions League match against Barcelona.
Despite participating in Chelsea's final training session, Akpan was not included in the traveling squad to Spain.
Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes has selected twenty players for the Barcelona clash, including six midfielders, but Akpan did not make the cut.
Having joined Chelsea at a young age, Akpan made her senior debut in 2023 and signed her first professional contract with the club last December.
Although she has represented England at the youth level, Akpan remains eligible to play for the Super Falcons.
Her absence from the Champions League squad marks a setback for the talented midfielder, who aspires to make her mark on the European stage.
