The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the soccer governing body, unveiled the preliminary nominees for various women's categories for the CAF Awards 2023 on Tuesday.
The list for the CAF Women's Footballer of the Year includes seven Falcons players: Asisat Oshoala, Toni Payne, Christie Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Uchenna Kanu, all nominated for the Player of the Year award.
Paris FC Féminine goalkeeper Nnadozie is still nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category.
The trio of Tosin Demehin, Deborah Abiodun, and Opeyemi Ajakaiye are up for the Young Player of the Year award.
Coach Randy Waldrum has been nominated for the Coach of the Year, while Nigeria's Super Falcons are also in contention for the National Team of the Year award.
The Awards Gala will take place on the 11th of December 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco.
