The international friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Albiceleste of Argentina will now be held in the United States of America.
The friendly is scheduled for a yet-to-be-announced date in March. The game was initially planned to take place in China but was canceled due to a dispute between Argentina superstar Lionel Messi and Chinese soccer authorities.
Messi upset the Chinese officials by refusing to participate in a friendly between his club, Inter Miami, and Hong Kong X1. He was dealing with a groin injury at the time.
Argentina will also play against El Salvador in another friendly in March. The AFCON 2023 Silver-winning Super Eagles will use the friendly to prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
