Nottingham Forest's versatile player Olaoluwa Aina, who also represents the Super Eagles, has agreed to extend his contract at the City Ground for another year.
Last summer, the 27-year-old full-back joined the Reds after his contract with Torino in Serie A expired, signing initially for a year with the option to extend.
Having featured in 22 games across various defensive positions and excelling in the AFCON 2023 campaign in Ivory Coast, Aina's contract extension was triggered by the club.
The official statement from the club expressed satisfaction with Aina's contributions both on and off the field, highlighting his versatility and positive influence.
Scoring his first goal for Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, Aina celebrated in the style of Yakubu Aiyegbeni, while also reaching the Africa Cup of Nations final with Nigeria and earning a spot in the Team of the Tournament.
Upon the announcement of his contract extension, Aina expressed his happiness with his time at Forest and thanked the fans for their support.
Ross Wilson, Forest's Chief Football Officer, emphasized Aina's positive impact on the team, praising his performances and personality, which align perfectly with the club's values.
Both Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will continue to work towards full fitness as they prepare for Nigeria's World Cup qualifiers next month.
