The Super Eagles on Monday in Bissau got their pound of flesh against the Wild Dog of Guinea Bissau with a hard fought 1-0 over the host.
Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau had put up a shocking display when they unexpectedly beat the Super Eagles 1-0 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday.
However, the Eagles were able to salvage a three point away to the Wild Dogs with the same scoreline 1-0 to reclaim the top spot of the Group A with nine points in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
It was Moses Simon’s 29th penalty kick minutes that gave the Nigerian senior men’s football team the needed win to move to nine points after four matches.
The Super Eagles now top the Group A standings to upstaged from the position Guinea Bissau who toppled them on Friday in Abuja with a 1-0 win.
Guinea Bissau are with seven points from four matches and in second place, ahead of Sierra Leone who have five points from four matches.
Nigeria will next face the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a Match Day 5 fixture.
