Super Eagles’ Ola Aina wins two Nottingham Forest awards

Nigerian international Ola Aina capped an impressive November by claiming two prestigious accolades at Nottingham Forest: the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards. These achievements underscore the defender’s growing influence at the club since his arrival in the summer of 2023.  


The versatile 28-year-old, who has seamlessly adapted to life under manager Nuno Espírito Santo, has become an integral part of the team. His ability to perform effectively on both flanks has made him a valuable asset, solidifying his place in the squad.

Aina’s standout moment came during Nottingham Forest’s emphatic 3-0 victory over West Ham United at the City Ground. Cutting in from the left wing, he delivered a stunning left-footed strike into the top corner, a goal that marked his first for the club and left fans in awe.  


Unsurprisingly, supporters voted this remarkable effort as the Goal of the Month for November. It was a testament to his attacking capability, complementing his primary defensive responsibilities.  


Defensively, Aina was just as impactful. His commanding performances contributed to two clean sheets during the month, including a gritty 1-0 win against Ipswich Town. His ability to balance defensive duties with attacking ventures has been a hallmark of his game this season.  


Having featured in 14 league games so far, Aina has combined defensive reliability with offensive creativity, winning the admiration of fans. Their votes earned him the Player of the Month title, edging out strong competition from forward Chris Wood.  


As Nottingham Forest prepares for a challenging trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, Aina’s current form will be vital. His contributions not only inspire confidence in the team but also reflect his commitment to excelling at both club and international levels.
