Super Eagles NPFL invitee, Sadiq, vows to fight for place in star-studded team

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Remo Stars star defender, Ismaila Sadiq, has expressed his readiness to give his best if given the nod to start in Nigeria's crucial clash against South Africa for the 2026 World Cup ticket.


Sadiq, along with other NPFL players, made Finidi George's list for the battle to secure the World Cup ticket, which spans three continents, including Africa.


According to the Remo Stars player, it is a privilege to be part of the group, as it came as a surprise.


"It's a privilege for me to be with senior players and good players. I should be able to learn new things from them.


"Let me say, I didn't expect this (call-up) in the first place, but I am here. I have to prove myself and I have to make Nigerians proud if the opportunity comes.


"I am always ready. If they give me the chance to play, I will prove myself," he said.


He emphasized that the team is not under pressure but is full of confidence to get the job done.


The Super Eagles will face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo on Saturday and later take on the Cheetahs of Benin Republic away from home.
