Calvin Bassey, the left-footed Super Eagles central defender, has made a firm decision regarding his future at Ajax Amsterdam despite rumors linking him with a potential return to England this summer.
Both Brighton & Hove and Fulham have been interested in acquiring the services of the Leicester City academy product, who holds the status of a homegrown player in the English Premier League.
Brighton is considering him as an option to sign as an alternative to Chelsea's Levi Colwill, while Fulham has displayed more concrete interest, recently making a £15 million bid for the former Glasgow Rangers player.
However, according to Voetbal International, Bassey is currently not keen on leaving Ajax this summer as he believes he still has unfinished business in the Netherlands.
He would only consider a departure if Ajax informs him that he is surplus to requirements, which has not been the case at this moment.
The 23-year-old showcased his talents during Ajax's pre-season game against Shakhtar Donetsk, playing the entire second half, marking his first appearance in the pre-season fixtures.
A year ago, Bassey made history as the most expensive Nigerian defender when he secured a move to Ajax for a guaranteed fee of 23 million euros.
While he was a key player in the starting XI during the first half of the previous season, he faced challenges and lost his spot in the lineup after the dismissal of Alfred Schreuder.
For now, Bassey seems committed to his path at Ajax, but his future may evolve depending on how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks and any potential decisions from the club.
