Super Eagles coach Peseiro concerned about Bruno Onyemaechi's fitness

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro is concerned about the fitness of another left-back in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
It's highly likely that Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi won't be available for both games due to a lingering left thigh muscle injury sustained in a Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk in September.
Bruno Onyemaechi, another left-back based in Portugal, missed Boavista's recent match against Sporting CP due to reported muscle issues from the last training session before the game, according to Boavista's medical report.
Onyemaechi has been a trusted player for Peseiro, participating in recent matches with Saudi Arabia, Mozambique, and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against São Tomé and Príncipe.
With the exception of the AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone, Onyemaechi has been part of the Super Eagles' squad since November 2022.
The 24-year-old is a key player for Boavista, starting in seven out of nine league games this season.
Additionally, Onyemaechi's teammate, Chidozie Awaziem, is a nominee for Boavista's Player of the Month award for October, competing against Sebastián Pérez and Róbert Boženík for the honor.
