The management of the Sunshine Stars football club in Akure has concluded plans to unveil 2013 AFCON winner Godfrey Itama Oboabona as a new addition to the team's squad. Godfrey Oboabona made his international debut for Nigeria in 2012. He previously played for Sunshine Stars between 2010 and 2013 before moving to Caykur Rizespor.
He played for Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia between 2017 and 2018 before joining Croatia's top-flight side, HNK Gorica. He had a short spell with FC Dinamo Batumi of Georgia in 2000, playing 11 matches. His return is expected to add needed experience to the Sunshine Stars squad. The unveiling of other players will come shortly before our next home game against the Afonja Warriors.
Similarly, Sunshine Stars will officially unveil Kennedy Boboye as the successor to Edith Agoye. Kennedy managed Sunshine Stars FC in 2015 before joining the Abia Warriors, spending a season in Umuahia. The former Sharks FC player had spells with Plateau United, Remo Stars, Akwa United, and Heartland FC. The unveiling ceremony comes up on February 13, 2024, at noon at the Sunshine Games Village, Oda Road, Akure.
