Sunshine Stars FC plays a 1-1 pulsating draw against Remo Stars FC

Posted : 08 June 2023
The Chief Coach of Sunshine Stars of Akure, Edith Agoye on Wednesday said that the team would hold on to the continental ticket dream until the last match of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 6 play-offs.

Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that Sunshine Stars FC of Akure and Remo Stars FC of Ikenne played out another pulsating 1-1 draw in the second match of the Match Day 2 of the Super 6 play-offs at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.

The Sky Blue Stars' Anakwe Samuel puts his team in front with a brilliant strike in the 12th minute while Sunshine Stars got the equaliser in the 47th minute from the boot of Lucky Gyang.

The draw was the second of the day as Bendel Insurance FC and Enyimba International FC had earlier played out a 1-1 draw.

The draw means that the Akure Gunners got a second point from the Super 6 play-offs having lost 0-1 to Rivers United in the first match and followed with a draw against Bendel Insurance FC.

Remo Stars on the other hand are also without a win in the Super 6 contest after the first match saw the team play out a 3-3 draw against Enyimba FC and another 2-2 against the defending champions, Rivers United FC.

Sunshine Stars of Akure Coach Agoye on the sidelines of the match was however defiant about his team's chances.

"The game is still on, nobody has been crowned yet, we can build on this momentum as our dream is still very much alive.

"We can still play for a slot in continental ticket," he said.

The Akure Gunners now have only two points in the six-team league actions so far, while Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance both have three points.

Both team still have two matches left to play. Remo Stars will play Lobi Stars on Friday and on Sunday which is the last match of the Super 6 play-offs; they will confront Bendel Insurance FC.

Sunshine FC on the other side will play Enyimba FC on Friday and keep a date with Lobi Stars of Makurdi for the last match of the season.
