Stefano Pioli explains Chukwueze's absence from Bologna vs AC Milan starting lineup

AC Milan's coach, Stefano Pioli, has clarified his decision to have Samuel Chukwueze on the bench during the club's Serie A opening match against Bologna on Monday.
Chukwueze, the 24-year-old Nigerian international, made his Serie A debut in the 74th minute after substituting new signing Christian Pulisic.
The former Chelsea forward, Olivier Giroud, opened the scoring for Milan in the 11th minute, with assistance from Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders.
Giroud then assisted Pulisic for the second goal in the 21st minute, securing a 2-0 lead for Rossoneri.
Pioli justified not starting Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, and Yunus Musah, the other new signings, in the league opener.
Pioli stated to DAZN, "We are playing those who are most ready, who have been working together since July. Chukwueze, Okafor, and Musah only arrived two weeks ago, but I don't think it will take them long to be at the same level as their teammates."
He added that the club invested heavily to have versatile options for each position, aiming for a complete squad of 20-22 top-choice players to stay competitive across various tournaments.
Looking ahead, Chukwueze will seek to make his mark when Milan faces Torino at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) on Saturday.
