Rangers Int'l FC hands automatic/special attention screening spots to 2023 Nanka Champions League best four players

Posted : 03 January 2024

Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, the General Manager of Rangers International, announced 'automatic' screening spots for four players adjudged as the best performers in the 2023 Nanka Champions League final, which took place on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Neros Stadium, Nanka.

The Nkpor Branch emerged as the overall champions after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Umuahia Branch, taking home not only the giant trophy but also the N1.5m prize money.

Amobi, arguably the youngest General Manager in the Nigerian domestic top flight, stated that this gesture was a token of appreciation for Prof Poly Emenike, the sponsor of the annual Nanka Champions League. He commended Emenike for his efforts in football development, not only in the Nanka Community but also in Anambra State, the entire South East, and Nigeria as a whole.

He emphasized that sponsoring a tournament for 40 years without a break was not an easy task. Acknowledging the substantial investment in the Nanka Champions League Project, he highlighted the opportunity and platform it provided for youth to hone their football careers.

Ezeaku, who had previously expressed gratitude to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for the positive changes he has brought to Nigerian football since assuming leadership, also presented Rangers Insignia to the NFF boss as a souvenir.

Amobi revealed that the four selected players would receive 'special' attention from the Rangers coaches during the screening for the 2024/2025 NPFL season.

After the announcement by the Rangers Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the stadium erupted into rapturous ovation, indicating a clear belief that Prof Poly Emenike's efforts and investments in football development were beginning to yield positive results.
