World Cup champions Spain will compete in the 2025 Women’s Euro alongside Italy, Belgium, and Portugal, while England will face a tough challenge as they look to defend their title in next year’s tournament in Switzerland. The 2023 World Cup runners-up and reigning European champions, England, have been drawn into Group D, where they will play against France, the Netherlands, and debutants Wales.
The Netherlands, who triumphed in 2017 on home soil under the current England manager Sarina Wiegman, will be aiming for a strong performance in the competition. Meanwhile, Group C sees Germany, winners of eight of the last 13 European Championships, drawn against 1984 champions Sweden, Denmark, and Poland, the latter being newcomers to the tournament. Germany, who dominated the competition from 1995 to 2013, were defeated by England in the final two years ago at Wembley after extra time.

Hosts Switzerland will kick off the tournament, which runs from 2-27 July, by facing Norway in Group A. This group also includes Iceland and Finland, all vying for a spot in the knockout stages. Spain, who have reached the quarterfinals in the last three European Championships, will be looking to make it to the semifinals again. Their best result came in 1997 when they made it to the last four during their tournament debut.
UEFA announced that the prize money for the 2025 Women’s Euro will be significantly higher than in previous years, with a total of €41 million being awarded. This is more than double the prize pool from the 2022 tournament. The team that wins the final in Basle will receive up to €5.1 million, while the runners-up will earn €2.085 million, similar to England’s earnings as champions in 2022. Each of the 16 participating teams will also receive €1.8 million.
The complete group-stage draw for the Women’s Euro 2025 is as follows:
Group A: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Finland
