Southampton Football Club is currently in advanced negotiations to sign Victor Udoh, a Nigerian forward from Royal Antwerp. This move comes as the English Premier League side looks to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.
Fabrizio Romano, a trusted transfer market expert, reports that a club-to-club agreement has already been reached between Royal Antwerp and Southampton for the transfer of the 20-year-old forward. The deal is expected to be finalized soon, with Udoh's arrival adding depth to Southampton's forward line.
Victor Udoh is represented by Emeka Obasi of Elite Project Group, the same agent who manages Southampton players Joe Aribo and Princewill Ehibhatiomhan, as well as former Saint Roméo Lavia. The shared representation has likely facilitated the progress of negotiations between the two clubs.
Udoh began his football career in Nigeria, where he spent his early years at TBC Football Club and Hypebuzz FC before making a move to European football in the summer of 2023. His transition to Royal Antwerp marked a significant step in his development as a player.
In January 2024, Udoh made his first-team debut for Royal Antwerp in a match against Charleroi. Since then, he has made a total of 28 appearances for the Belgian club across various competitions, though his senior appearances have not yet yielded any goals.
Despite the promising start to his career, Udoh faced a setback when Antwerp's head coach, Jonas De Roeck, sent him to the reserve team in December 2024. The young forward was also omitted from the squad for Antwerp’s last six matches in the Jupiler Pro League, suggesting a lack of trust in his current form.
While Udoh did not score in his senior appearances for Royal Antwerp, he displayed his potential in the club's reserve team, scoring 12 goals in 27 appearances for the Young Reds in the 1ste Nationale. This goal-scoring ability has certainly caught the eye of Southampton, who are now looking to secure his services.
