All is now set for the South South U-18 football tournament in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, from the 8th to the 13th of February.
The Secretary of the Central Organising Committee, Mr. Diseye Nwankwe, in an exclusive chat with Africa Sport Network (ASN), disclosed that the screening of players would commence immediately after the draws.
According to him, the essence of the screening is to curtail age cheating to enable the organizers to achieve the purpose of the tournament, which is talent discovery.
He mentioned that contingents from Rivers, Cross River, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa State have arrived in Yenagoa, aside from Akwa Ibom, who are yet to arrive as of the time of putting this report together.
Mr. Nwankwe explained that Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau, NFF Technical Committee Chairman Augustine Eguavoen, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the final.
