Hosts South Africa and Botswana are set to face off once again in the Cosafa Cup, marking their ninth consecutive meeting in the tournament's history. Botswana, yet to secure a win against South Africa in their 12 previous encounters, will be aiming to change their fortunes in this prestigious regional competition.
Group A of the tournament will also feature Mozambique and Eswatini, promising intense competition among the four teams. Meanwhile, in Group B, seven-time champions Zambia will aim to make history by winning three consecutive titles, facing familiar rivals Zimbabwe and Comoros.
Last year's runners-up Lesotho find themselves in Group C alongside three-time winners Angola, 2015 champions Namibia, and the Seychelles, ensuring a challenging set of fixtures for all involved.
The tournament will kick off on June 26th and run until July 7th, with pool games scheduled from June 26th to July 3rd, followed by the semifinals on July 5th and the final and third-place playoff on July 7th. The format guarantees each country a minimum of three games, allowing for up to five matches throughout the competition.
With a rich history spanning 22 editions, the Cosafa Cup has seen remarkable performances and memorable matches. Zambia leads the titles with seven, followed closely by Zimbabwe, while South Africa, Angola, and Namibia have also claimed regional glory.
