Sources have reported that Pep Guardiola is not expected to extend his contract with Manchester City beyond its expiration in 2025.
While the 52-year-old coach has yet to make a final decision, he is leaning towards concluding his tenure at the Etihad Stadium after two more seasons.
It is suggested that Guardiola may then pursue a national team position, having been previously sought after by Brazil and the United States.
In November, Guardiola inked a new deal with City after a visit to Abu Dhabi during the World Cup break. Despite speculation that he might depart after achieving the treble, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager assured City fans in May that he would be at the helm for the upcoming season.
However, sources disclosed that Guardiola has already surpassed his initial expectations for the duration of his stay at the club since taking charge in 2016. He harbors uncertainties about engaging in contract negotiations next summer.
Guardiola will embark on his eighth season in charge of City next year, following four years at Barcelona and three years with Bayern Munich. While City still holds hope that Guardiola might opt to stay longer, they will respect his decision if he chooses to depart.
