Source: Contract negotiations with Manchester City on going, Arsenal considers Ilkay Gundogan

If Ilkay Gundogan is unable to reach a contract with Manchester City, sources claim that Arsenal would be interested in signing him.
The 32-year-contract old's expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, and he has thus far rejected City's attempts to bind him to new terms.
According to sources, City is only currently willing to extend his contract for one year, while Barcelona is willing to give him a two-year contract.
At this point, it is unknown what conditions Arsenal is prepared to provide, but they are likely to have room in their roster for an experienced player given that Granit Xhaka is in negotiations to join Bayer Leverkusen in a move that might be for approximately €15 million.
Declan Rice of West Ham and Moises Caicedo of Brighton are two potential targets for Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, this summer.
Gundogan, a player he worked with during his three years at City as a coach under Pep Guardiola, would be a far more affordable choice, as would Arteta.
Last summer, Arteta persuaded Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to transfer from City to Arsenal, and Gundogan is regarded as a very significant asset due to his abundance of expertise.
Despite several rumours linking Gundogan to a transfer to Barca, City is still hopeful of keeping Gundogan.
