Doncaster Rovers, a League Two team, has officially announced the signing of Deji Sotona, a talented winger and former Manchester United academy product of Nigerian descent, on a two-year contract.
Sotona impressed the coaches during his trial period with Rovers, leading to the offer of a contract.
The 20-year-old player has garnered attention from top clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City due to his exceptional pace, ultimately choosing to join Manchester United's academy.
During his time with the Red Devils, Sotona was even recognized as the fastest winger in the club, surpassing notable players such as Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot, and Daniel James.
In 2020, despite being offered a three-year extension deal by Manchester United, Sotona decided to leave the club and joined French side Nice, where he worked under the guidance of coach Patrick Vieira.
However, he struggled to secure regular playing time at Nice.
Alongside his experience with Manchester United and Nice, Sotona has also had stints with Brentford B, Burnley, and Kilmarnock, showcasing his versatility in different football environments.
Now, as Sotona joins Doncaster Rovers in the fourth tier of English football for the upcoming season, he hopes to rejuvenate his career and make a positive impact with his new team.
