The Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gbenga Ogunbote, has expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness for the challenges of the second round of the 2024/25 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Speaking after the team’s first training session following the holiday break, Ogunbote, fondly known as “The Oracle,” emphasized the need for unwavering focus and effort as the Oluyole Warriors gear up for the critical second half of the season.
“It’s going to be a very tough second round, just as the first round was challenging,” said Ogunbote.
“Our position in the first round will attract a lot of challenges, but the players are aware of this, and we’ve communicated the need for absolute commitment.”
Acknowledging areas for improvement, Ogunbote confirmed plans to strengthen the team.
“We are working on adding fresh legs to the squad. By this weekend, I’m confident we’ll have new players joining to help address gaps identified in the first half of the season,” he stated.
He also lauded the players for their enthusiasm during the first session back.
“The turnout was impressive. Even though we are still expecting some players, I’m happy with the energy and attitude I witnessed today,” he said.
Ogunbote expressed gratitude to Shooting Stars supporters and urged them to intensify their backing in the second round.
“While I deeply appreciate their support so far, I appeal to them to give even more. Their support is crucial as we strive to make them proud and represent the state with excellence.”
The Oluyole Warriors, who have shown promise in the first round, are determined to maintain their momentum and push for success in the second half of the NPFL season.
With Ogunbote’s strategic guidance and anticipated squad reinforcements, the team is poised for a competitive campaign.
