The resurgent Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan on Wednesday showed grit once again with a commanding 2-0 win over the hard-fighting Nasarawa United FC in the midweek fixtures of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 21.
It was a perfect debut for Sodiq Ibrahim in the colors of his new club, Oluyole Warriors, as he scored after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 victory over the Solid Miners at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex.
The new signing for Shooting Stars, who initially took some time to settle in with his new teammates, made a significant impact in the second half with a powerful strike that doubled 3SC's lead over Nasarawa United.
Tijani Kabir had given the home team an early advantage with a goal in the 14th minute.
Speaking after the game, Ibrahim expressed his excitement about scoring on his debut for Shooting Stars:
"My debut goal for Shooting Stars is a huge boost for me and a way to show my gratitude to 'The Oracle,' Gbenga Ogunbote, for believing in me.
"I'm thrilled with the goal and want to thank my coaches, teammates, and the fans for making this day possible for me.
"While I was on the bench, I kept reminding myself to seize the moment if I was called upon, and thankfully, I did.
“This is a significant step for me, and I hope to continue scoring and contributing to the club's overall success."
Shooting Stars SC is now second in the 2024/2025 NPFL standings with 36 points from 20 matches, having one game in hand.
