Shooting Stars SC GM inspires team ahead of Tornadoes' clash

Posted : 04 November 2023
In the lead-up to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 7 encounter of the 2023/2024 season between Shooting Stars Sports Club and Nigeria Tornadoes FC, the General Manager, Dimeji Lawal, has urged the players to approach the game with the determination of wounded lions and aim for a convincing victory.

Recall that Shooting Stars SC suffered a comprehensive 0-3 defeat against Remo Stars in the Southwest derby played at Ikenne Stadium.

Addressing the players after a training session at Lekan Salami Stadium, Kabongo, as the former international is affectionately known, emphasized to the players the importance of not just winning but winning convincingly come Sunday.

"We let down our supporters and fans with the 0-3 loss to Remo Stars on Wednesday. What's most frustrating is that we had the game under control, but we allowed them to secure an easy victory.

On Sunday, we have no choice but to return to winning ways and bring joy back to our people because, based on what we have achieved, they already believe we have the potential to succeed.

Without a doubt, you are a group of talented players that the domestic league can take pride in, and as a team, I can confidently say we are very strong. All we need to do is address those minor shortcomings," he added.

Furthermore, the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles player challenged the players to approach every game with a strong character and mentality, urging them to consistently adhere to the coach Gbenga Ogunbote-led technical crew's instructions and game plan.

Reminding the players of the high expectations from the government, the people of Oyo State, and the enthusiastic fans of the team this season, the former Super Eagles' winger reiterated the commitment of the management led by Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro to their well-being.
