Kano Pillars FC, seeking to challenge Shooting Stars SC, faced a setback as the host secured a lone goal victory. Despite a commendable performance, the Sai Masu Gida boys suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to the Oluyole Warriors at the Adamasingba Stadium.
Abdu Maikaba, the head coach of Kano Pillars, attributed their defeat in Ibadan to a lack of confidence among his players. While the team has demonstrated strong performances at home, including a notable win against defending champions Enyimba International FC, they face challenges on away soil. Maikaba acknowledged the need to address the team's mentality during away games to improve their chances of securing points in such situations.
"We need to work on our mentality for away games," said Maikaba, emphasizing the importance of rectifying the team's performance in away fixtures. Despite the setback, Kano Pillars aim to return to winning ways in their upcoming match against Bendel Insurance at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan, on the other hand, will embark on a challenging away fixture against joint league leaders Lobi Stars of Makurdi in Lafia.
