Shooting Stars fights back to beat Doma United 3-1

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) secured a 3-1 victory against the visiting Doma United Football Club of Gombe on Match Day 5 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.

The Oluyole Warriors clinched their third consecutive home victory, accumulating 10 points from five matches. However, the Ibadan-based side faced an unexpected setback when they fell behind after just eight minutes. Goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda misjudged a shot by Nelson Abiam, leaving the majority of spectators at the Lekan Salami Stadium in stunned silence.

3SC fought back by restricting the visiting side to counter-attacks through the flanks, although they dominated the game, their untidy passing prevented them from capitalizing.

They managed to draw level in the 45th minute after an infringement awarded them a penalty, which Gbolagade Adelowo successfully converted. In the second half, the Shooting Stars limited Doma United's opportunities to express themselves, taking control of the midfield.

Substitute Abdullahi Lawal played a crucial role in the 3SC midfield, helping stabilize their game. They soon took the lead in the 59th minute with a goal by Kareem Ayinde.

As they secured the full points, 3SC gained more control over the game, keeping the visitors in check. Gideon Monday added the final goal in the 89th minute.

Under the guidance of Gbenga Ogunbote, 3SC now boasts three wins, one draw, and one loss in five games.
