The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan, has denied a report attributed to him in which he allegedly urged the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to release the balance of the budgeted N45 million for the team.
Reacting to the report published by an online medium, Akoro, as the 3SC helmsman is fondly called, denied ever granting any interview or making such a request.
"Let me use this medium to dissociate myself from any interview reportedly published online, where I urged His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to release the balance of N45 million budgeted for the team.
"I never, for once, granted any interview where I talked about such an issue, not even to ask His Excellency to release the balance of 45 million naira as claimed in that story," stated the retired referee.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly said the Oluyole Warriors have never lacked the support of Governor Makinde in all aspects.
"His Excellency has been very supportive of us, both financially and morally, so how come I would come out to make such a demand?
"As we speak, the club is not owing the players and the staff salary, while other allowances due to them are paid as at when due, all thanks to the prompt release of funds to the team by the governor," stated the 3SC boss.
"His Excellency is our number one supporter; he has been standing solidly behind us and following us as we progress. He knows what to do at the appropriate time," concluded Honourable Olaniyan.
