Sheffield United 2-2 Everton: Arnaut Danjuma, Cameron Archer score for both teams
Posted : 02 September 2023
Sheffield United and Everton played to an exciting draw in the Premier League, with both teams earning their first point of the season. Despite their poor starts, they couldn't be separated at Bramall Lane, sharing four goals in an entertaining match.
Everton took the lead through Abdoulaye Doucoure, scoring their first league goal of the season. Sheffield United responded with Cameron Archer's goal, and then Archer's shot hit the post and rebounded off Jordan Pickford for a second goal. However, Everton equalized after the break with Arnaut Danjuma converting a cross from Nathan Patterson.
In the dying moments, Sheffield United nearly secured a dramatic win, but Oli McBurnie's header was brilliantly saved by Pickford, who also stopped the follow-up shot on the post. Despite low expectations, both teams displayed determination and fight to earn a valuable point and relieve some pressure after a tough start to the season.
Doucoure's goal for Everton ended their goal drought in the Premier League, which had lasted for 316 minutes. Sheffield United, considered relegation favorites by some, showed resilience and heart, particularly through Cameron Archer's performance.
The draw leaves both teams with one point each, and they will resume their league campaign on September 16th after the international break, with Sheffield United facing Tottenham and Everton hosting Arsenal.
