Setback for Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United in chase for Victor Orakpo

According to Sébastien Denis, Victor Orakpo has chosen Nice over Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. 


Orakpo gained recognition during Bayern Munich's 2022 international tournament, attracting interest from several European clubs. Both Spurs and Newcastle had been monitoring the Nigerian teenager since 2022. 


Spurs, in need of a long-term option after parting ways with their star striker, saw potential in Orakpo. Newcastle aimed to invest in young talent for future development.


However, Orakpo has already committed to Nice, who recognized his potential and secured his services, outpacing other clubs. Despite the English clubs' interest, they cannot sign him. Nice, having conducted a successful trial, is finalizing the transfer formalities. 


Orakpo is expected to undergo a medical examination before official confirmation of the deal. With his evident potential, Orakpo may soon contribute to Nice's first team, leaving Bayern Munich and AC Milan, previously linked to him, without the opportunity to secure his services.
