Sergio Ramos to leave Paris St. Germain at the end of the season
Posted : 03 June 2023
On Saturday, the Ligue 1 season for French champion Paris St. Germain will come to an end, and defender Sergio Ramos will go.
Lionel Messi's departure has already been confirmed, making Ramos the second well-known departure this week.
"Tomorrow is a special day, tomorrow I say goodbye to another stage of my life, goodbye to PSG," said Spanish great Ramos on Twitter.
The 37-year-old joined PSG from Real Madrid in 2021 and made 57 appearances while playing for them, winning two French championships.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: "Sergio's leadership, team spirit and professionalism, combined with his experience at the highest level, make him a true football legend, and it was an honour to have him in Paris."
Ramos is still Spain's most-capped player and has won the World Cup and two European Championships.
At Real, he won four Champions League champions' medals and five La Liga championships during a career filled with trophies.
And his expertise was seen as crucial to assisting PSG in ultimately winning the Champions League, along with that of multiple champion Messi, who joined PSG in the same summer.
