Kwara United Football Club defeated Remo Stars 3-2 on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the Matchday 33 encounter of the ongoing 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), held at the Main Bowl of the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin.

Kwara United opened the scoring within seconds of the game, marking it as the fastest goal in the ongoing NPFL. Wasiu Alalade scored the opener, and defender Ejeh Isaiah nodded home the second off a corner kick in the 45th minute.

At the beginning of the second half, Kwara United introduced Abubakar Garba for Sadeeq Yusuf to bolster their defense. Coach Kabir Suleiman Dogo also made substitutions, bringing in Obi Benard for Dehinde Ibrahim, and later introducing Shola Abdulraheem and Adeniji Kabir for Afeez Musa and Wasiu Alalade, respectively.

These changes put pressure on Remo Stars, resulting in an own goal from Shola Abdulraheem's pull out. However, Remo Stars rallied and scored two goals within four minutes in the 89th and 90+ minutes, causing tension.

Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo expressed delight with the victory but lamented the momentary loss of concentration that led to his team conceding two quick goals in the closing minutes of the game.

The Special Guest of Honour, Senator Sadiq Umar, pledged support of N100,000 for every goal scored by Kwara United Football Club and donated N1 million to Bayour Issah and Jimoh Bashir for the publication of a book on the history of Kwara United Football Club.

Senator Umar also donated N500,000 to Kwara badminton players to support their transportation to training venues due to ongoing renovations at the Indoor Sports Hall of the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin.

Additionally, Senator Umar sponsored Coach Muktar Dantala for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) License D Course in Abuja. He was the only coach from Kwara to attend the course.

Mohammed Sulaiman from Edu Local Government received a cheque of N100,000 on behalf of the Seyi Akinwumi Foundation, witnessed by the Edu Local Football Council's Malik Manzuma.
