The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday continues in search of a win from its friendly matches across the world as they were again forced to a 2-2 draw in a match played at Portimao Municipal Stadium, in Portugal.

The Jose Peseiro-tutored side had staged a comeback from a grueling 0-1 lead from the Green Falcon after the Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho conceded an own goal after he fumbled with a ball from Salam Al-Faraji in the 64th minute.

However, Super Eagles after an entertaining duel got the needed lead as it was the turn of Saudi Arabia's goalkeeper, Al Amri to deliver the second own goal of the day to gift the three times African Champions the needed equaliser in the 73rd minute.

In-form Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho however fired in what could have been the winning goal for Nigeria in the 81st minute.

The Roberto Mancini tutored Saudi prince were not done for the day as Mohammed Kamno put sword in the heart of the scored in the 90+10 minutes to cancel the lead.

It is on record that the Super Eagles have yet to win their last 13 friendlies and were hoping to end the poor run against the Green Falcons which was not to be.

Nigeria’s last friendly victory came way back in March 2019, when they saw off seven-time AFCON champions Egypt 1-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium courtesy of an early strike from Genk forward Paul Onuachu.

The 62-year-old Portuguese tactician has guided the Eagles in three friendlies and has failed to win any of those games, losing to Mexico, Ecuador and Algeria.

The Super Eagles return to action on Monday as they face Mozambique in another friendly at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira, Portugal.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON champions are using the matches to shape up ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals, respectively.

The Super Eagles will start their World Cup qualifiers in November with games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe before heading to Ivory Coast for AFCON in January.
