Samuel Mbangula Shines in Juventus Debut with Goal, Man of the Match Performance

Samuel Mbangula, who spent his formative years in Anderlecht's youth system, made a remarkable debut for Juventus in Serie A. After playing in the club's subsidiary team last season, Mbangula was unexpectedly chosen over a high-profile acquisition for the starting lineup. His selection paid off as he scored a goal and was named Man of the Match in Juventus' 3-0 victory over Como. Reflecting on his performance, Mbangula expressed his amazement, saying, "When I heard the fans in the stadium, it just felt amazing."

 

The 20-year-old winger was candid about his feelings following his debut, admitting that the experience felt like a dream. Mbangula opened the scoring for Juventus in the 23rd minute, marking his first goal in the top division. He also contributed an assist in the 91st minute, further solidifying his standout performance. His rise from the youth team to the senior squad has been surprising, with many taken aback by his inclusion in the lineup and his subsequent impact on the game.

 

In addition to Mbangula’s goal, Tim Weah doubled Juventus' lead just before halftime, and Andrea Cambiaso rounded off the scoring later in the match. Juve's star player, Dušan Vlahović, also found the net, but his goal was disallowed. Mbangula, originally from Congo and now a Belgian under-21 international, has been praised by new Juventus coach Thiago Motta. Motta, who chose Mbangula over the €50 million signing Douglas Luiz, remarked that the decision had been vindicated.

 

Motta has implemented changes to Juventus' playing style, shifting away from the more conservative approach of his predecessor, Maximiliano Allegri. One of Juventus' key players, Manuel Locatelli, expressed his approval of the new system, noting that the team is now focused on working hard and letting their performances on the field speak for themselves. Locatelli emphasized the importance of effort and determination, saying, "The truth always comes out on the field."
