Former Super Eagles defender Danny Shittu has advised Spanish-Nigerian forward Samu Omorodion to be patient and avoid making a hasty transfer from FC Porto.
The 20-year-old striker has drawn attention from top European clubs after an impressive 2024-25 season, netting 20 goals in 32 appearances for the Portuguese side.
Chelsea, previously close to securing Omorodion, have reignited their interest in the former Atlético Madrid player. Meanwhile, Arsenal have also joined the race, creating strong competition between the London clubs. Speaking to Africafoot, Shittu praised Omorodion’s strength, speed, and finishing ability, predicting a bright future for him.
"Samu has immense talent and the potential to achieve great things in football. He is powerful, quick, and clinical in front of goal," Shittu remarked.
The former Nigeria international urged Omorodion to prioritize his development rather than rushing into a high-profile transfer. "I believe he should take his time rather than making a move too soon. FC Porto provides a great environment for growth. Staying another season or two will benefit him," he added.
Omorodion’s performances in La Liga had already put him on the radar of scouts across Europe, and his progress in Portugal has only strengthened his reputation. Shittu, however, insists patience is crucial for his long-term success.
"If he continues working hard and developing, bigger clubs will come calling in a year or two. He will have stronger bargaining power, and Porto will also benefit financially," Shittu concluded. Currently valued at €50 million, Omorodion’s continued progress could further increase his worth and provide Porto with a lucrative opportunity in the near future.
