Kogi United FC started their 2025 Nationwide League One campaign with a draw, as they played to a 1-1 draw against Si14 FC in a match held at the Lafia City Stadium.
Before the match, the patron of Si14 FC, Hon. Khalid Adamu (Sarkin Ayyukan Keffi), motivated the Si14 FC players with a sum of N150,000.
However, in their Nationwide League One opening match against Kogi United FC, joy was evident on the faces of Si14 FC players.
The Nasru Minallah lads started the game with high intensity, dominating and dictating play in key areas, including pass completion, chance creation, and end-to-end intensity.
The Nasru Minallah Boys continued to create several goal-scoring opportunities, including three powerful strikes in the first 15 minutes that threatened the opposition.
Their efforts paid off in the 49th minute when they slotted in a cross from the left flank that caught the Kogi United FC defense off guard, giving Nasru Minallah lads the opening advantage.
Si14 FC continued to press, putting the opposition under pressure for much of the first half.
The second half began promisingly for the hosts, but Kogi United rallied, looking more threatening as they raised the tempo of their game with the early introduction of fresh legs, which seemed to cause Si14 FC some problems.
Si14 FC made changes in the midfield, introducing Lucky Francis and Timothy Dauji to regain control, with scintillating ball supply and interceptions as they mounted pressure with several attempts on target, although none found the back of the net.
