Rudiger's Extra-Time Header Sends Real Madrid to Copa del Rey Final

Real Madrid secured a dramatic spot in the Copa del Rey final after Antonio Rudiger's extra-time header sealed a 5-4 aggregate win over Real Sociedad. Rudiger, coming on as a substitute, met Arda Guler’s corner in the 115th minute, sending a header past Sociedad's goalkeeper, Alex Remiro, and sending the home fans into ecstasy.

 

The match saw an exhilarating second half, with five goals scored in just 21 minutes as both teams battled fiercely to reach the final. After a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, Sociedad took the lead in the 16th minute through Ander Barrenetxea. However, Real Madrid quickly responded, with Brazilian teenager Endrick chipping in a fine equalizer in the 30th minute to put Madrid ahead on aggregate.

 

The drama intensified when a David Alaba own goal in the 72nd minute gave Sociedad the advantage once more. Mikel Oyarzabal added another for Sociedad in the 80th minute, only for Jude Bellingham to level things up with a superb volley. Aurelien Tchouameni thought he had scored the winner in the 86th minute, but Oyarzabal's header in added time sent the game into extra time.

 

Ultimately, Rudiger's header in the 115th minute secured Madrid’s place in the final, where they still have a chance to complete the Treble, with Barcelona their next potential opponent after their own thrilling tie with Atletico Madrid.
