Ishaq Abdulrazak, a Nigerian midfielder born in 2002, appears to be excluded from RSC Anderlecht's plans for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The player joined the Belgian club in the summer of 2022, coming from Norrköping in Sweden for a transfer fee of €3.00 million. However, he has only participated in three Belgian Pro League matches for Anderlecht so far.
According to reports from the Belgian news outlet La Derniere Heure, it has been revealed that Abdulrazak does not fit well into coach Brian Riemer's tactical system, greatly reducing his chances of receiving significant playing time in the upcoming Belgian Pro League campaign.
Abdulrazak began his European career with Norrköping in 2020 after previously playing for Unity Academy. During his time in Sweden, he appeared in 54 matches in the Allsvenskan Professional League, scoring two goals and providing six assists.
The limited playing time at Anderlecht has been a disappointing turn of events for the young Nigerian, who had hoped to advance his career in Belgium.
Consequently, it is suggested that a loan move away from the club during the summer transfer window would be a favorable solution for both the club and Abdulrazak's camp. However, as of now, there have been no indications of any clubs showing interest in signing him.
Louis Janssen, a source close to the situation, disclosed, "He is not in the plans at Anderlecht for this season, mainly because the coach Brian Riemer plays a formation that doesn’t suit him.
A loan spell is a good solution for everyone; that way, he could get some playtime. But no clubs have shown interest for the moment."
At present, RSC Anderlecht, who have won the Belgian Pro League 34 times, are conducting their preseason tour in Australia, with Abdulrazak notably absent from the squad due to illness.
Janssen further explained, "Anderlecht have gone on a preseason camp in Austria, and he stayed home. He came back with a few physical problems and was sick."
Although selling Abdulrazak at this stage would be a loss for Anderlecht, considering his potential, the club's focus may now shift towards exploring loan options to ensure the young talent obtains valuable playing time.
