Roundup of Nigerian footballers' performances across different leagues worldwide

Posted : 26 April 2023
Josh Maja put in a stunning performance, scoring two goals to lead Girondins Bordeaux to a commanding 3-0 victory against Grenoble Foot 38.

Maja's first goal came just three minutes before half-time, giving Bordeaux the lead. He then sealed the win in the 63rd minute, after Zuriko Davitashvili had doubled the home team's advantage.

Bordeaux is now second in the French Ligue 2 table and is in control of its automatic promotion destiny, thanks to Maja's heroics.

With 15 goals in 32 league appearances, Maja has been instrumental in the club's excellent campaign.

Meanwhile, in other football news around the world, Dele Israel shone for Sigma Olomouc II as they secured a 4-1 win over Emmanuel Anih's Příbram in the FNL league.

In Ecuador, Lagos-born Jimmy Evans Oghenerukwe came off the bench for Mushuc Runa, but they couldn't change the scoreline as they played out a goalless draw with Emelec in the Lega Pro.

In the Iraqi League, Okiki Afolabi showed nerves of steel as he converted an 88th-minute penalty to help Newroz earn a 1-1 draw against Al Najaf.

Meanwhile, in Romania, Christian Irobiso led the attack for Petrolul 52, who forced Voluntari to a 2-2 draw and returned to the top of the Liga I table.

Bright Osayi-Samuel was on the bench for Fenerbahce in Turkey, as their title hopes took a significant hit after being held to a 3-3 draw by Emeka Eze's İstanbulspor.

Fenerbahce thought they had sealed a 3-2 victory that would have reduced Galatasaray's lead to four points, but Eze had other ideas, scoring a 96th-minute equalizer to upset Fenerbahce's party.
