Ronaldo Sets Historic Record in Al-Nassr's 2-0 Win Over Al-Wahda

Posted : 28 September 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo set another historic milestone during Al-Nassr’s 2-0 victory over Al-Wahda in the fifth round of the Saudi league, becoming the first player to score 30 goals in 17 different calendar years. Ronaldo, at 39, continues to defy expectations after recently netting his 900th career goal during the Nations League. His latest achievement came when he converted a penalty in the 56th minute, sealing the win for Al-Nassr following Angelo's opening goal in the 41st minute.

The goal marked Ronaldo's 903rd career strike and his fourth of the current Saudi league season. Impressively, it was also the 17th consecutive penalty Ronaldo has successfully converted since joining Al-Nassr. His precision from the spot has been flawless, demonstrating his continued impact on the team. Despite this success, Ronaldo's domestic trophy cabinet remains bare since his move to Saudi Arabia, with his only title so far being the Arab Champions Cup.

This victory lifted Al-Nassr to second place in the league standings, boasting three wins and two draws. However, Al-Nassr has played one more game than their rivals, including Al-Ittihad, Al-Shabab, and Al-Ettifaq, who have the potential to overtake them depending on upcoming results. Additionally, Al-Hilal, the reigning champions, remain at the top of the table with a perfect record of four wins in four matches.

Though Ronaldo’s incredible goal-scoring form continues to make headlines, his quest for a domestic title in Saudi Arabia remains unfulfilled. Nonetheless, his performance has solidified his legendary status in football history, further enhancing his reputation as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
