Cristiano Ronaldo took another step towards reaching the 1,000-goal milestone with a brace in Al-Nassr's 3-1 victory over Al Gharafa in the Asian Champions League. Despite a frustrating first half, during which he argued with the referee, Ronaldo came alive in the second, scoring twice to bring his official career tally to 913 goals. This includes 13 goals in 17 appearances for his club this season.
The match, held on Monday night, saw a cautious first half before Ronaldo broke the deadlock early in the second, finishing from close range in the 46th minute. Al-Nassr's 19-year-old Brazilian Angelo then doubled the lead with a composed finish in the 58th minute, before setting up Ronaldo for his second goal six minutes later. After Ronaldo was substituted in the 74th minute, Al Gharafa responded with a goal, but their hopes were dashed when Seydou Sino was sent off in the 84th minute.
Al-Nassr's victory earned them 13 points from five games in the Asian Champions League, temporarily lifting them to second place in Group 1. However, their domestic form in the Saudi league has been less impressive, suffering their first defeat of the season just days earlier and trailing leaders Al-Ittihad by eight points and second-placed Al-Hilal by seven.
