Ronaldo confirms stay with Al Nassr to benefit national team

Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, has put an end to speculations about a potential return to the Premier League by confirming his decision to stay with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia for the upcoming season.
Belgium national team manager Roberto Martinez believes that playing for a non-European club can be advantageous for Ronaldo when representing the national team. Since joining Al Nassr in January, Ronaldo has made a significant impact, scoring 14 goals in 16 games after mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United.
As Portugal's most-capped player, Ronaldo is on the verge of reaching 200 caps for his country, currently sitting just two games away from this milestone. Martinez praised Ronaldo's commitment, describing him as an exemplary figure in the locker room and an inspiration to both Portuguese and global football.
With 198 international appearances, Ronaldo holds the record for the most international goals, having scored 122 goals since his debut in 2003.
Martinez emphasized the importance of Ronaldo and veteran FC Porto defender Pepe in passing on their experience and wisdom to the younger players in the Portuguese national team.
However, he also stressed the need for Ronaldo to maintain his training and performance levels, as competition within the team pushes players to excel. Portugal is set to host Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland in their Euro 2024 qualifiers, scheduled for Saturday and next Tuesday, respectively.
