Ronaldinho's Son Signs an Under-19 Deal with Barcelona

The son of former Brazil striker Ronaldinho has committed permanently to Barcelona's under-19 squad, according to the Catalan club. 

18-year-old Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira was practicing with Barca's Juvenil A team while his future was still up in the air. The kid terminated his contract with Cruzeiro at the conclusion of the previous year despite having played for the Brazilian team since he was 14 years old. 

Barca has now used their option to prolong Mendes' stay after a successful trial. On Thursday, he and Jose Ramon Alexanco, the head of the institution, inked a contract. 

Mendes will reportedly be under contract until the summer of 2019, when the forward will turn 19 years old. The decision to extend his current contract will be made by the club once it expires.
