Ronaldinho: We always expected Messi to be the best

Even during Lionel Messi's early days as a youth team player at Barcelona, Ronaldinho and his fellow senior players at the club recognized that the Argentine star would one day become the world's best footballer. Messi secured his eighth Ballon d'Or at the awards ceremony in Paris, a crowning achievement after realizing his "dream" of leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar last year.
 
Ronaldinho, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2005, was instrumental in Messi's development as he rose through the ranks at Barcelona. Despite their differing personalities, Ronaldinho took on a mentorship role during Messi's early years. He sat alongside Messi in the locker room, invited him to dine at the 'Brazilian table,' and encouraged him to always enjoy playing the beautiful game.
 
"At that moment, it is very special because that's where his career began. Having the opportunity to be part of the beginning of his story is beautiful," said Ronaldinho. "It fills me with happiness to know that his first goal came from my feet. This is a memory we will never forget."
 
Messi's journey has been extraordinary, and his latest achievement of guiding Argentina to World Cup victory is a source of great pride for his friends and mentors, like Ronaldinho.
