Chelsea's interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen may continue into the near future despite recent developments.
Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer market expert, has reported that Chelsea's interest in the 25-year-old Nigerian remains strong. Despite multiple attempts to secure Osimhen's transfer before the summer window closed on August 30, Chelsea was unable to finalize a deal.
The negotiations broke down due to discrepancies between the proposed contract terms and Osimhen's current salary at Napoli. Consequently, Osimhen stayed with Napoli but has since agreed to join Galatasaray on loan.
Romano recently updated on his YouTube channel, stating that Chelsea's interest in Osimhen persists. He noted that Chelsea's admiration for the striker continues, and they tried until the last moments of the transfer window to bring him on board.
Romano hinted that Chelsea might revisit the possibility of signing Osimhen in the January transfer window or next summer. He suggested that if opportunities arise, Chelsea could negotiate with Osimhen again.
Meanwhile, Osimhen has been included in Nigeria's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He is part of the 23-player roster selected for the upcoming matches against Benin Republic on September 7 in Uyo and Rwanda on September 10 in Kigali.
