Rodrygo inspires Real Madrid to LaLiga summit with dominant 3-0 victory against Cadiz

Posted : 27 November 2023

Rodrygo's stellar performance propelled Real Madrid to a 3-0 victory over Cadiz, temporarily securing their position at the top of LaLiga. Despite significant injuries to key players, including Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga, Madrid showcased their depth and resilience. Carlo Ancelotti's tactical adjustments, such as starting Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in key roles, proved effective.

In the 14th minute, Rodrygo opened the scoring with a magnificent curling strike into the top right corner, demonstrating his resurgence after a challenging start to the season. The Brazilian winger's brace, marking goals in three consecutive games, highlighted his pivotal role in the absence of Vinicius. Ancelotti praised Rodrygo's impact, acknowledging his crucial contribution to the team's success.

Real Madrid dominated the early stages, with Cadiz having their chances in an open first half. The hosts' goalkeeper, Conan Ledesma, thwarted a formidable effort from Roger Marti, showcasing Madrid's defensive resilience. In the second half, Rodrygo showcased his individual brilliance once again, scoring his second goal with a spectacular strike after a 30-yard dribble into the box.

Rodrygo then turned provider, setting up Jude Bellingham for Madrid's third goal. Bellingham's clinical finish added to his status as LaLiga's top scorer with 11 goals this season. With the victory, Madrid extended their lead over Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, solidifying their position in the top tier of the league.

While the performance was commendable, Madrid faced a setback as Luka Modric left the field due to a "muscle overload." Despite this, the team looks forward to a Champions League clash against Napoli, aiming to secure top spot in the group.

In other LaLiga matches, Villarreal, under Marcelino Garcia Toral, secured a comfortable 3-1 win against Osasuna, and Real Sociedad clinched a 2-1 victory against Sevilla. Additionally, Real Betis edged Las Palmas 1-0, drawing level with Athletic Bilbao in the league standings.
