Rodri, Haaland Nominated for FIFA Best Men's Player Award

Rodri and Erling Haaland are the only two Premier League players nominated for the 2024 FIFA Best Men's Player award, following Manchester City's historic achievement of winning four consecutive league titles. Their nominations highlight City's dominance in English football, with the duo playing pivotal roles in the team's success.

 

Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid and England midfielder, is among the 11 nominees for the prestigious award, which is largely dominated by players based in Spain. This includes standout performances by Bellingham, who finished third in the Ballon d'Or voting and is now aiming for a breakthrough by becoming the first male English player to claim the FIFA Best title.

 

Rodri, the Ballon d'Or winner, is seen as a strong contender for the award but faces fierce competition from Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, who was the runner-up in the Ballon d'Or voting just last month. Both players have had exceptional seasons, contributing to their teams’ domestic and international successes.

 

Lionel Messi, the 2023 winner of the award, is the only nominee playing outside Europe, having moved to the United States to join Inter Miami. Despite the change in his club situation, Messi’s impact on the field continues to make him a prominent figure in the global football scene.
