The General Manager of Rivers United, Dr. Okey Kpalukwu, has praised the Rivers United U-17 Youth Team for emerging as champions of the 2024 NPFL Youth League in Benin, Edo State.
Kpalukwu, in a congratulatory message on behalf of the management, players, and coaches of Rivers United, described their success as a true reflection of the club's vision for promoting youngsters from the grassroots.
He noted that these youngsters are poised to take the football world by storm, adding that Rivers United will continue to help young players reach their full potential from the talented pool of players in the country.
The Rivers United G.M, who also serves as the Chairman of the NPFL Club Owners Association and a member of the NPFL Board, also commended the coaches of the Youth Team for their strong desire to compete among the best in the football profession with skills and fitness in tactical acumen, which paved the way for triumph in Benin City.
Recall that Rivers United Youth Team secured 10 points with victories against Remo Stars, Rangers International, and Katsina United, along with a draw against Plateau United to emerge as champions. Players such as Ozornwafor Oscar were awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Seiyefa Jackson finished as the top scorer at the playoffs with 4 goals.
