Rivers United safe hand, Sochima may leave club on transfer

Posted : 05 July 2024

Speculations are now rife that last season's CAF Confederation Cup campaigner, Rivers United FC, may have to do without their safe hands, Victor Sochima, when the new 2023/2024 season begins, as he is alleged to have a desire to move away from the club.

It is also a known fact that Victor Sochima's contract has expired with the team.

According to Sochima, he is open to offers, noting that he is taking his time to make the right decision on which club to join.

While reflecting on his time at Rivers United, Sochima hailed the tremendous impact of former coach Stanley Eguma and praised his teammates for their achievements at the club.

"Sochima Victor's contract is finished, and by extension, he is no longer a Rivers United player. I'm proud of my achievements and will always be a fan and wish the club good luck.

"There are two massive clubs, and it's no secret that I'm a Rangers fan from childhood and was born in Enugu. I will always be linked with the club every transfer window, but I can categorically tell you that I'm still a free player and have not signed for any club yet.

"Yes, there have been offers, but the transfer window is long, and I'm taking my time to make a decision. At the right time, it will happen.

"At first, I never thought I would get there working with him. It was a pleasure working with him, and I'm happy he trusted me. I played my best football yet under him. It wasn't the end we wished for, but overall, it was amazing having him as my coach."
