Rivers United FC is now set to have former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye in its fold for the rest of the season.
Ideye, who has played in the Premier League in England, is set to join table-topping Rivers United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), according to club officials.
Super Eagles stars Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have previously rejoined former NPFL club Kano Pillars after their sojourn in Europe, while several former internationals like Finidi George, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Daniel Amokachi are now in charge of top local clubs.
Ideye, who featured for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League eight years ago and has also played in the top leagues in France, Ukraine, Greece, and Switzerland, is in line to join the bandwagon.
Earlier this week, Ideye was spotted training with Rivers United.
Rivers United coach Finidi George has now said the experienced striker is likely to sign for the Port Harcourt side.
“There is every likelihood that he’ll join us. He wants to give back; that’s the most important thing,” Finidi said.
“He has that hunger. We’ve seen Ahmed Musa, and if he’s willing to do that, I think we’ll welcome him.”
