Rivers United beat Kano Pillars to reclaim title

The game of musical chairs at the top of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) continued on Sunday, with Rivers United from Port Harcourt returning to the top spot.


Rivers United beat visiting Kano Pillars 1-0 to reclaim the top position with 29 points after the Match Day 15 fixtures.

A goal by Aniekeme Okon in the 31st minute at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium earned them the full points to surge ahead of the pack.


The result took the top spot away from the former league leaders.


The Pride of Rivers now have 29 points from 15 matches, with eight wins, five draws, and two losses.
