Rio Ferdinand believes Harry Kane is the perfect striker for Manchester United

Posted : 19 July 2023
In an interview with reporters, former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand expressed his opinion on the club's search for a No. 9 striker ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Ferdinand believes that Harry Kane would be the perfect addition to the team, considering the club's goal of building on last season's third-place finish in the league.

United, who last won the Premier League title in 2013, had an impressive debut season under manager Erik ten Hag, securing a League Cup victory and finishing third behind Manchester City and Arsenal. However, Ferdinand believes that to bridge the gap at the top and compete with perennial winners City, United needs a talismanic striker to deliver immediate goals and push for silverware.

While Victor Osimhen has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, Ferdinand firmly believes that Kane should be their first-choice summer signing.

Kane's contract with Tottenham expires next summer, and he has been the subject of bids from Bayern Munich. Ferdinand points out that Kane knows the Premier League inside out, eliminating any acclimatization issues and providing immediate impact.

With a place in the Champions League secured, Ferdinand expects Manchester United to continue improving under Ten Hag's leadership in the upcoming season.

He stresses the importance of consistency and maintaining confidence throughout the campaign to challenge Manchester City more closely.

Ferdinand believes that winning a trophy should be a priority for United, targeting the FA Cup or even the Champions League to build on their League Cup success.

Manchester United will kick off their 2023/24 Premier League season against Wolves on August 14, with their match against Burnley on September 23.
